About
Established in 1896, alongside the birth of the new Olympic era, Cambridge University Fencing Club is one of the oldest fencing clubs in the United Kingdom. Being one of the largest and most accomplished sports clubs at the Univeristy of Cambridge, we pride ourselves in our contribution to British Fencing. We cater to all fencers of all levels of commitment, from those who want a release outside of the world of Cambridge academia to those who strive to excel and compete at the national or even international level.
Fuelling our rich rivalry with Oxford, the club has engaged in the annual varsity match since 1897. Outside of this event, our teams fence regularly in BUCS as well as friendlies throughout the year.
We are proud to offer one of the country’s most accessible and successful beginner courses led by acclaimed coaches, capable of training beginners with no prior fencing experience to represent Cambridge against Oxford in Novice Varsity.
Our members are, and have always been, the heartbeat of our community therefore we strive to stay connected with our former club members. Keep updated through newsletters and attending our annual tradition of The Old Blues’ Match and Dinner event.
